Apple Pruning Workshop 2 July 2017
A group of 14 people attended the Pruning workshop on the afternoon of Sunday 2 July 2017. Like last year the weather was atrocious and Robert Guyton did a great job explaining the pruning process from the relative comfort of the Education Centre. A slide show explaining the open orchard project and the grafting process was shown to participants. Then we all went out and had the chance to examine and then prune some of Rances apple trees. Lots of questions showed the interest people had in learning the techniques, recognising fruiting spurs, and learning about scions and rootstock, and pruning for fruit, size and shape. It was an excellent afternoon – thanks Robert.
